Quintana Roo Passes the Baton to Oaxaca at ATMEX 2024

Last October, Atmex (Adventure Travel Network Mexico) held its second meeting of 2024 in Chetumal,

Quintana Roo, bringing together leaders and experts in adventure and eco-tourism promoting sustainable and responsible travel, with courses and workshops for training and the exchange of ideas and new strategies. Local tour operators showcased the beauty of Mexico’s Caribbean with short tours to the biosphere reserve of Sian Ka’an, Puerto Morelos, known for its cool Cenotes sinkhole pools, Bacalar, flaunting its lagoon of seven colors, and other sustainable travel destinations within Mexico’s easternmost state of Quintana Roo.

Beyond Mexico’s tourist resort areas, an emerging adventure tourism sector is essential. It provides an opportunity for prosperity to reach the most remote communities, directly benefiting those who live in more disadvantaged areas since it contributes to and promotes the economy.

At the meeting held at the Chetumal Convention Center, delegates and attendees were advised that the first of the bi-annual meetings for 2025 is bestowed to the state of Oaxaca. The Pacific state is growing in popularity, known for its immense nature, unique culture, and gastronomy.

The delegation of the Ministry of Tourism of Oaxaca, together with service providers and tour operators of the state, received the baton to host the Adventure Travel Network Mexico (Atmex) 2025, the most essential sustainable tourism meeting in Latin America.
