images of celebrity-chef restaurants, extravagant buffets, and glamorous Strip resorts immediately come to mind. While those experiences remain an important part of the destination’s appeal, there is another side of Las Vegas that many visitors never discover—a creative, locally driven neighborhood where murals cover warehouse walls, independent businesses thrive, and some of the city’s most exciting culinary experiences are taking shape.

That neighborhood is the Las Vegas Arts District and I recently, along with my wife and some friends, had a chance to explore it through the Arts District Foodie Tour offered by Taste Buzz Food Tours.

A Different Side of Las Vegas
Located between Downtown Las Vegas and the Strip, the 18-block Arts District has evolved into one of the city’s most vibrant cultural hubs. Here we had taco with chili braised jackfruit that tasted just like beef. Our next dining stop was Soul Belly Food BBQ was our next stop. This was 100% carnivore. We had a brisket sandwich with mac and cheese that was delicious. Onto 1228 Main Street owned by Wolfgang Puck (though the fact it is his restaurant is not promoted at all). It was incredible. Chicken on focaccia with pesto sauce. Dessert was our final stop and Freed’s Dessert Shop did not disappoint with a delicious sampling of their baked goods.

More Than a Food Tour
