Crisis Management in Travel
The recent sinking of the Costa Concordia brought home to travel consultants the need for effective crisis management. I am sure that many of our readers who have clients booked on an upcoming cruise have had to address their concerns about cruise safety. The industry has certainly had its fair share of crises over the past couple of years including natural disasters, social unrest, health scares and accidents on the sea and in the air.
How you address your client's concerns is of paramount importance. A vague comment about safety statistics will not go far towards alleviating your client's concerns. Rather, you should have a well thought out ... Read more. |

Do Not Stow That iPad;
Qantas' New Q-Streaming Starts Now
What do you do when you find an Apple iPad in the seat-back pocket? Naturally, watch hours and hours of the newest television and movies. Duh. This week, Qantas announced testing of their new in-flight entertainment system. We've already talked about the technology the Australian airline brings to cabins both domestically and internationally, and this news is an even more important cog in the wheel. The fresh entertainment system is called Q Streaming, and it's being trialed on one aircraft at the moment. The technology allows passengers to stream, on demand, the entire portfolio of Qantas entertainment to an on-board iPad. Both business and economy customers can spend the majority of their flight with their eyes glued to the 10-inch screen. (Jaunted - The Pop Culture Travel Guide on 2012-1-27 4:03pm) |

With Attache for the Egyptian T.A.
JAX FAX recently spoke with Mr. Mohamed Hegazy(left), Tourism Attache for the Egyptian Tourist Authority in New York. At the time, Mr. Hegazy was on vacation in Cairo, and told us that he saw no demonstrations at all. He believes that the media has exaggerated the situation in Egypt, and that their coverage concentrates on only one square of the entire country. The remainder of Egypt remains safe and unaffected. We asked him several questions to bring us up to ? Read More |

| HOME BASED TRAVEL AGENTS REGISTRY |
Advantages for travel agents:
Get the recognition you deserve from travel suppliers. Get your name onJAX FAX's
Home Based Travel Agent Registry
One of the disadvantages ofbeing a home-based agent is the loss of personal contact with travel suppliers and your local BDM's. Plus as a home-based agent, you may be working through host agencies and therefore suppliers may not be aware of your sales of their products.
The Home Based Travel Agent Registry serves two purposes:
It will let suppliers know who you are and what areas you specialize in. It will provide you with a list of home-based agent friendly suppliers and will have a directory of BDM's so you will know
who your local contact person is. To find out more clck here. |
