Getting to Know Condor Airlines

As Germany’s most popular leisure airline,

Condor has been taking its guests to the world’s most beautiful holiday destinations for more than 66 years. Every year, more than nine million guests fly with Condor from the nine largest airports in Germany, from Zurich in Switzerland and Vienna in Austria to around 90 destinations in Europe, Africa and America. Condor operates a fleet of over 50 aircraft, which are maintained by the company’s own maintenance operation, Condor Technik GmbH, according to the highest safety standards at the Frankfurt and Dusseldorf locations.

Condor’s New Look -Stripes!

In spring 2022, Germany’s most popular leisure airline unveiled its new brand identity: Condor stands for vacation and vacation stands for stripes. Inspired by parasols, bath towels and beach chairs, Condor now wears stripes in five colors. The five colors are: Sunshine, Passion, Sea, Island and Beach. These colors are not only found around the globe on holidays, they also stand for the fact that the world cannot be defined by a single color. Therefore their “Fleet” is looking forward to a new design, visibly striped and colorful in Sunshine (yellow), Passion (red), Sea (blue), Island (green) and Beach (beige). This clearly shows the development from a leisure airline to a unique and unmistakable vacation brand.

The new design was unveiled with the first A330neo, which took off for Condor in fall 2022. Condor will soon be flying 18 A330neo long-haul aircraft. Thanks to state-of-the-art technology and maximum efficiency, the latest-generation 2-liter aircraft is the European front-runner with 2.1 liters per passenger per 100 kilometers and maximum customer comfort. Moreover, Condor will receive 41 brand-new short- and medium-haul aircraft of the A32Xneo family from 2024.

41 New Aircraft-New short- and medium-haul fleet

The Condor Supervisory Board has decided to order a total of 41 aircraft of the A32Xneo series. The deal comprises 13 Airbus A320neo and 28 Airbus A321neo as well as further purchase rights, that will successively replace Condor’s existing short- and medium-haul fleet (Airbus A320/1 and Boeing 757). With up to 20 percent less fuel consumption and carbon emissions and up to 50 percent less aircraft noise, the new short- and medium-haul fleet will set new standards. Delivery of the aircraft is scheduled for spring 2024 – immediately after the rollover of the entire long-haul fleet has been successfully completed. From autumn 2022, Condor will replace its Boeing 767s long-haul aircraft with brand-new Airbus A330neo. With the 2-litre aircraft on long-haul routes and highly modern short- and medium-haul aircraft of the A32Xneo family, Condor consistently focuses on state-of-the-art technology, maximum efficiency and highest customer comfort and as a result will have one of the greenest fleets in Europe.

“With the replacement of our entire long-haul fleet with the latest 2-litre aircraft by early 2024, it is the obvious next step for us to modernize our short-haul and medium-haul fleet as well. With our new A320neo and A321neo aircraft, we are consistently developing our fleet and ourselves as a company, and also taking care of our own ambition to enable responsible and at the same time comfortable travel with significantly reduced carbon emissions, lower fuel consumption and less noise,” says Ralf Teckentrup, CEO of Condor.

The Onboard Experience

A new service on Condor flights allows for personal overhead bins to be pre-reserved. On selected flights, Condor passengers in Economy Class now have the option to reserve their own overhead compartment. From 9.99 euros, this guarantees sufficient storage space for the hand baggage included in the fare booked. The service will initially be available on long-haul flights operated with a Condor A330-200. This will apply to departures from November 1, 2022.

Ralf Teckentrup, CEO of Condor says, “Many travelers are familiar with this situation: you are sitting at the gate, boarding begins and you wonder whether your hand baggage will still find a place in the overhead compartment. Condor guests can now relax and simply reserve their own baggage compartment online in advance – ideally directly in combination with a seat. This makes flying even more relaxed.”

A reservation can be made up to 48 hours before the scheduled departure at: www.condor.com under “My Booking” and up to three hours before departure at online check-in. One baggage compartment can be reserved per passenger.
